Key Arena renamed the Climate Pledge Arena.
The stadium, which hosted The International tournaments four times from 2014 to 2017, has been renamed the Climate Pledge Arena.
It was built in 1962, but since October 2018, it has been under reconstruction. The plans were to improve it and increase the number of seats. There were allocated over $500 million for rebuilding.
In connection with the reconstruction, tenders held, which gave the ability to rename the arena. Amazon won it, took the opportunity, and renamed the arena the Climate Pledge Arena.
This choice relates to the Climate Pledge project launched by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019. It aims to completely stop industrial emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by 2040.
Whether the future tournaments of The International series after the reconstruction will hold here is still unknown.
